Updated 24th March
Well, now we know where we stand and here’s what we at your Red Lion are doing about it!
Following last night’s announcement by the Prime Minister, and further reading this morning, I can see no reason why we cannot continue with our plan for delivering food and groceries locally. What we are able to provide will depend on requirement, demand and supply. My main area of doubt would be hot food take-away as to ‘fire up’ the kitchen for a few meals will obviously not make sense. We could supply meals, prepared in our kitchen, for re-heating/finishing off at home as well as fresh produce delivery. If you wish to use this service it is important that you register your interest at email@example.com . We will then send order forms out to those addresses. Real-ale and cider will be same day delivery (unless instructed otherwise) and groceries will be ‘order today for delivery tomorrow’. In the meantime, we will be continuing our ale and cider delivery but these need to be ordered before 5pm.
Please keep watching this space for further updates as we can give them.
Rest assured that the health and well-being of my customers and staff remains my top priority and, as such, if I feel that things become compromised in any way, as laid down by Government advice, then I will still take the decision to restrict our operations or, as a last resort, close if it is in the best interest of the community.
Come and see our “Interior of Special Historic Interest” as recommended by CAMRA’s publication Real Heritage Pubs of the South West
A warm and friendly atmosphere can be found in this attractive traditional Free-House located in Kilmington right on the B3092 between Mere and Frome. Situated on the world renowned Stourhead Estate, this National Trust-owned building has been under my new private business ownership since December 2014. Situated at the base of White Sheet Hill and adjacent to an old coaching route (the extra horses needed to negotiate the steep hill were once stabled here) the 16th Century former farmworker’s cottage has been a pub for some 250 years serving the Parish villages of Kilmington, Norton Ferris, Stourton, Gasper, Zeals and Bourton.
